The Gormley Gathering Cocktail Party Raises $222,421 for Cystoscopy Equipment
Wayne Brownlee (PotashCorp’s Executive Vice President and CEO) and radio personality John Gormley present the proceeds of the Gormley Gathering to John Agioritis (St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation Board Chair), Jean Morrison (St. Paul’s Hospital President and CEO) and Bruce Acton (St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation CEO).
Thanks to the generosity and support from our community of donors, The Gormley Gathering, presented by PotashCorp on November 7th, raised an astounding $222,421 in support of cystoscopy equipment at the Leslie and Irene Dubé Urology Centre of Health at St. Paul’s Hospital.
Hosted by 650 CKOM radio personality John Gormley, the Gormley Gathering is an annual cocktail party that raises funds to improve care for patients living with prostate cancer and urological illnesses. Since its inception, the Gormley Gathering has raised more than $872,000 in support of Urological care.
“This is the sixth year John Gormley has hosted this event in support of St. Paul’s Hospital, and the support gets stronger every year,” says John Agioritis, St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation’s Board Chair. “Proceeds from this year’s cocktail party fund raiser will purchase a surgical mini
C-arm X-ray Scanner, Radiolucent Operating Theatre Table for cystoscopy. This equipment will significantly reduce wait times for a diagnosis, and will improve patient comfort and provide surgeons with greater accessibility to the treatment site.”
Outside of ticket sales and general donations, major gifts included $25,000 from presenting sponsor PotashCorp, $50,000 from Glenn Wig, $30,618 from Kenneth Stephenson, $25,000 from Gordon & Jill Rawlinson, $20,000 from Greg Keller, and $17,738 from Smiley’s A Night for Life. We are very grateful.
The Leslie and Irene Dubé Urology Centre of Health at St. Paul’s Hospital provides important resources and state-of-the-art equipment for those suffering from a wide range of urological diseases. The Centre also provides patient education as well as incorporating a nurse navigator to serve as a patient advocate and liaison between health care providers and patients who need help finding their way through the health care system.
