Did you know that Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by two New York-based charities who wanted to raise awareness of charitable giving around American Thanksgiving? Retired Roughrider Don Narcisse speaks up about prostate cancer

Retired Roughrider Don Narcisse says his sister inspired him to speak out about his prostate cancer diagnosis. He found out he had Stage 1 prostate cancer around Christmas 2017. When his siblings heard the news, they came to his house to talk about how they could support him.

Foundation Awards support Hospital security staff

Security might not be the first profession that comes to mind when you think about a hospital but the security department at St. Paul’s plays an important role in the safety of patients, staff, physicians and volunteers. Curtis Grueter has been working in the St. Paul’s Hospital security department for 17 years and this year he received funding from the SPH Foundation to take a locksmithing course.

Mistletoe Ball

The 29th Annual Mistletoe Ball was held on Saturday, November 17. The spectacular evening provided guests with an elegant fine dining experience, a live music performance, dancing and mingling with friends. We will be celebrating the 30th anniversary in 2019! Introducing Executive Director Karen Barber

Big changes have come to the governance structure at St. Paul’s Hospital over the past year, including a change to the leadership. Karen Barber is now filling the Executive Director role at St. Paul’s Hospital, picking up many of the tasks formerly done by Jean Morrison, who is now the President and CEO of Emmanuel Health Incorporated.> <read more>

 

CKD update

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation is providing funding for an innovative research project to co-develop culturally appropriate teaching materials and tools for Indigenous people about the treatment options for failing kidneys. It’s one of 14 projects organized by the Can-SOLVE CKD Network, a patient-oriented kidney research network supported in part by the Canadian Institute of Health Research. <read more>
