Behind the Curtain – Patient and Staff Medical Library Grand Opening and tour of Renal Health!

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation celebrated the Grand Opening of the new Patient and Staff Medical Library at our Behind the Curtain VIP event on September 19, 2017.

“Thanks you to you - our donors – this new library has been made possible,” said Foundation CEO Bruce Acton. St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation raised $245,000 through the 2015 Mistletoe Ball and Christmas Letter to support the Library, which not only serves the needs of staff and physicians, but also serves the needs of patients and their families.

Following the Grand Opening ribbon cutting, donors and supporters took a VIP tour of Renal Health at St. Paul’s Hospital. Dr. Joanne Kappel presented the case of fictional patient “Paula” and attendees followed Paula’s journey through renal health at St. Paul’s Hospital.

Presentations were made by physicians and employees from Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic, the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit, The Home Hemodialysis Unit and Training Room, and the Hemodialysis Units. The tour culminated in the new Patient and Staff Medical Library, where librarians showed the many ways that patient Paula and her team of physicians and staff used the library to advance Paula’s care.

We thank all the dedicated physicians and staff who volunteered their time to showcase the work they do at this event, and thank the generosity of our donors. We are very grateful.
