Foundation Helps Advance Prostate Care with New Ultrasound Technology

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation is very pleased to support the continued advancement of patient-centered care at St. Paul’s Hospital through the funding of a new prostate ultrasound for the Leslie and Irene Dubé Urology Centre of Health. This essential piece of equipment is an important part of the evolving management of prostate disease, allowing for more accurate and timely point-of-care assessment of prostate size that helps to determine treatment options for a number of prostate diseases.

“We are thrilled that the prostate ultrasound has been purchased,” says Dr. Kunal Jana, urologist at St. Paul’s Hospital. “It enables us to better guide treatment plans, particularly as we incorporate the latest surgical innovations, including robotic surgery.”

The Leslie and Irene Dubé Urology Centre of Health was established in 2012 with the generous support of the community, and is dedicated to transforming the way urological care is delivered. With a focus on patient engagement and multidisciplinary care, the Centre offers a welcoming space for prostate cancer patients to receive information, consult with specialists, and access support throughout their treatment journey.

Thanks to the generosity of our community and the support of donors who put technology like the Prostate Ultrasound into the hands of our talented healthcare professionals, the Urology Centre continues to enhance the patient experience while delivering world-class care close to home.
