Mistletoe Charity Ball Raises $196,900 For Operating Room Advancements
On Saturday, November 19th, the 27th Annual Mistletoe Ball fund raiser raised $196,900 in support of operating room advancements at St. Paul’s Hospital.
“The Mistletoe Ball has a direct and positive impact on the care we are able to provide patients at our Hospital,” said John Agioritis, SPH Foundation Volunteer Board Chair. “This elegant event has been ringing in the Christmas season for 27 years. A dedicated volunteer committee and generous sponsors and supporters make this event a resounding success each year.”
The gala event, presented by PotashCorp for the sixth year in a row, featured an intimate evening of dining and dancing at the Sheraton Cavalier with a five-course meal by Executive Chef Robin Andreas and their wonderful staff. Music during the reception was provided by Mr. Ed Bajak, and guests danced the night away to the sounds of The Legendary Rhythm and Blues Revue.
Proceeds from the Mistletoe Ball support state-of-the-art advancements in all St. Paul’s Hospital operating theatres. These advancements transform St. Paul’s Hospital’s operating theatres into some of the most sophisticated theatres in the province, improving efficiencies in the operating rooms and helping to pave the way for our physicians and surgeons to provide new treatment options. The new technologies will also provide a significantly improved learning environment in the operating theatres with cross-site, peer-to-peer videoconferencing.
The first Mistletoe Ball was held in 1990, and since its inception, Mistletoe Charity Ball supporters have helped St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation raise over $3 million for medical equipment and patient care items.
