Community events support St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation

From the Spirit Newsletter: The voice of St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation.

Graham Nicholson Memorial Golf Tournament

The Graham Nicholson Memorial Golf Tournament was held on June 16th, 2023. A labour of love by a committed group of friends and family, the Golf Tournament honoured a dedicated husband and father who held golf as one of his passions. Graham Nicholson was known for his wonderful sense of humour, for transforming ordinary moments into great memories, and for making space for those he loved. Diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer at age 49, Graham passed away at the Hospice at Glengarda on April 15th, 2022. For his wife Tannis, their short time at the Hospice had a deeply meaningful effect on her family during an incredibly difficult time. She wants to ensure that other families navigating similar challenging paths will be able to access the same invaluable resources, both now and into the future. Tannis and her brother, Tyler Moss, made the admirable decision to honour Graham’s legacy through the golf tournament, which serves not only to support the Hospice’s Comfort Care Fund but also as a platform to raise awareness about the extraordinary services provided at the Hospice at Glengarda.

Tim Hortons Smile Cookie

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation was deeply grateful to be the charity of choice for Tim Hortons’ first-ever Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign. Tim Hortons ran this campaign exclusively in Saskatchewan during December 5-11th, 2022 with the Foundation named as the beneficiary of the $52,613 raised at participating Saskatoon locations. Tim Hortons’ generosity will allow the Foundation to bolster support to the area of Kidney Health, improving care for patients in both Saskatoon and northern Saskatchewan.

Ahmadiyya Youth Run4Saskatoon

Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) hosted their annual Run4Saskatoon charity run on October 8th, 2022. AMYA organizes charity runs across Canada, and Run4Saskatoon marked the fourth year that the group has hosted a run in Saskatoon. Very generously, AMYA selected St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation as the recipient for funds raised by the October Run. Their gift of $3000 will be committed to supporting an area of greatest need at the Hospital. Dianne Antoneshyn Fundraiser After experiencing the loss of her mother, Dianne Antoneshyn, Tina Thompson wanted to express her gratitude for the extraordinary care that her family received at the Hospice at Glengarda. On May 27th, 2023, alongside family and friends, Tina hosted a bake sale, barbecue, raffle, and 50/50 fundraiser at the Delisle Co-op to honour the memory of her mother and support the Hospice. Tina’s dedication and the community’s charitable approach to celebrating Dianne’s life raised $12,000 in support of the Comfort Care Fund at the Hospice at Glengarda, a fund providing holistic programming, activities and supplies that bring comfort, care and home-like touches to the Hospice.

We are very grateful for the groups who host events in support of our Hospital. If you are interested in supporting St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation through an event, contact Michelle Neufeld, Manager of Annual Giving, at info@sphfoundation.org or (306) 655-5821.
